Tending to Our Grief: Mind-Body Care with Somatic Experiencing, Herbalism, and Chinese Medicine

Grief is an unavoidable part of the human experience. And, we are conditioned to push it away because it feels uncomfortable.

Grief works on its own timeline. It’s not a linear process to resolve. It comes in small and big ways, from losing your favorite pen to facing the loss of a loved one.

And in times of ongoing systemic violence and polycrisis, grief is an emotion that lingers not only in our minds and hearts individually but also collectively.

What if the key is not to “fix” or “change” our experience of grief, but to greet it, get to know it, and hear what it has to show us?

When we touch into our grief without turning away from it, we develop greater capacity to choose how to respond to our pain and loss with greater wisdom, clarity, and care.

In this online workshop with Heidi Schaul-Yoder, Somatic Psychotherapist, and Dr. Vivian Mac, Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist, you will explore your relationship with grief, through the support of healing practices such as Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt Therapy, Herbalism, and Chinese Medicine.

We will expand our capacity to tend to grief through:

  • Understanding grief through the lens of Gestalt Therapy and Chinese Medicine

  • Guided somatic practices to ground & open

  • Herbal medicine making

  • Acupressure

  • Journaling

  • Meditation

Together, we will engage in experiential practices and reflection to develop emotional and physical balance as we work through the multi-layered experience of grief.

Our intention is that participants feel deeply held and witnessed, move into the darker winter months with new tools to tend to grief, and that all of our hearts feel restored and awakened.

Pricing: Early Bird Tickets at $35. The rate will increase to $45 after November 14th.

We are fundraising to support survivors of gender-based violence, in an effort to channel our personal & collective grief toward helping to create a safer world for all. 10% of proceeds will go toward Free From, an organization devoted to ending gender-based violence by supporting the financial security of survivors.
