FAQs

COVID-19 Safety:

We follow current CDC guidelines. Mask wearing is up to the discretion of the practitioner + client. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep everyone safer!

  • Rates for each service are shown on our scheduling page, or at the bottom of each service’s webpage. Please inquire about package discounts which vary for each practitioner.

  • We provide comprehensive details about the benefits of each service modality right here on our website. If you need more help deciding, you can email us or book a phone consultation and describe your conditions, needs and goals.

  • We love to see our clients walk out of each session feeling better than when they walked in. While we may be able to treat your symptoms quickly, it will likely take more time to organize the roots of the issue(s). We are happy to discuss your treatment plan with you during your initial consultation, and will check-in and revise the plan as we progress.

  • Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel/change your appointment so we can offer the spot to someone on our waitlist. We ask for a minimum of 48 hours notice, and charge the full session fee for cancellations/changes made less than 24 hours in advance.

If you’re feeling unwell the day before your in-person appointment, please let your practitioner know at least 24 hours in advance so they can reschedule you.

We will always respect your time and kindly ask that you do the same for us. Thank you!

  • Please manage your booking through the confirmation/reminder emails that we send to you for each appointment. In each of those you will see “change” and “cancel” buttons so you can easily update your appointment.

  • These practitioners currently work through insurance:

Edna Gruvman accepts Cigna for Trauma-informed Therapy / EMDR. In addition, some insurances will allow for out of pocket reimbursement.  The client would have to check with their insurance company.

Heidi Schaul-Yoder is out of network for Somatic Psychotherapy. What this means is that if the client has out of network benefits, Heidi can provide them with invoices for their sessions that they can submit to their insurance for reimbursement. Most POS and PPO plans provide at least 70-80% reimbursement for out of network.

Heidi or Edna would be happy to connect with you and answer any questions during a free phone consultation, which you’re welcome to schedule here: https://brooklynmindbody.as.me/schedule.php

  • That depends on the practitioner/service. Feel free to ask them directly!

  • Our practitioners may be able to travel to you for sessions. You will likely need to have or purchase the proper equipment as it usually isn’t feasible to travel with these things in NYC (ex. Massage table, etc.). Travel fees are determined based on how long it takes the practitioner to travel to/from your location. Please contact us if you are interested in having in-home sessions.

  • Please practice good hygiene for your sessions. Shower before and wear clean clothing. Avoid wearing heavy lotions and perfumes/colognes.

  • Please note that there is a strict no intoxication policy, including marijuana and alcohol. There may be an exception for medical prescriptions, but please inquire first. There are certain medications which are contraindicated for our services, such as painkillers and muscle relaxants. If you are on a prescription for these, please check with your doctor before booking as to whether it's safe to receive our work. If you arrive at your session under the influence, or if your ability to safely receive our work is impaired, we reserve the right to cancel/discontinue the session and you will be responsible for its full cost.
